Club news for everyone

Reigate and Banstead Twinning - can you host a runner from France for Run Reigate 2019 (still no responses as yet, so last plea)?

Without getting embroiled in a Brexit debate (!), the Reigate and Banstead Twinning Association is hosting visitors from our twin town of Brunoy, France (pronounced "Brunoir") on Friday 13th to Sunday 15th September, and we have four runners coming over to take part in the half marathon over that Run Reigate weekend. Would you consider hosting someone from Brunoy? Let's show our entente cordiale!

If it is possible for you to host, can you please contact Sarah Walters by sending her an email to

Final Lily B event @ Kingston Saturday 31st August from Mike Gent

The track and field season for the Juniors is drawing to a close. However, there is one final Lily B event for the girls on Saturday 31 August at Kingston. Please mark the date in your diaries.

There's still plenty of PB opportunities this season! From Ashley Burridge

Apart from the last Lily B league match on 31 August (and SAL on the 17th for u17s and up), the opportunity for juniors to represent the club in a track & field league match has finished for the 2019 season.
However, there's still plenty of events you can enter, proudly wearing your club vest, to try and improve on those personal bests!
Here's a couple of events which offer something a little different:
Sunday, 11 August - Newham and Essex Beagles Open meeting at the Olympic Stadium warm-up track. Okay, it's not the London Stadium, but it's right next to it and has the same superb Mondo track, photo finish, electronic blocks and big screen results! Here's the flyer.
Running alongside the Open meeting is a Minithon where school years 1 to 6 can choose three events from 75m, 150m, 600m, Long Jump and Vortex throw. Here's the flyer for the Minithon.
Monday, 26 August - Crawley AC's Tom Lintern Open Medal Meeting. Yes, medals! There are plenty of events to choose from for U11's upwards. Here's the flyer. This event is usually well supported by RPAC juniors, so see you there!
Don't forget to check the Power of 10 website to find other events.

Obstacle Course/Social event @ Bletchingley Saturday 21st September 3-5 PM from Sam Burnett

We have organised a fun session which is open to *all* members of the Junior Academy and Junior section.

The Junior section has over 150 members and we thought some of you may like the opportunity to meet up after the long summer holidays and have a fun session at the beginning of term.

We will have exclusive use of an obstacle course in the beautiful countryside just minutes from Reigate/Reigate in Bletchingley.

You should have received an email about this event on Tuesday 30th July with booking instructions. Please send a message to if you have not received this email.

Make sure that you book your place now as there are a limited number of places for this event.

Senior news

Ian Edmonds and RPAC crew hosted the Run Reigate Run Club @ Priory Park Thursday 1st August

Ian was helped by Moray Carey, Jim Vince, Usha Stevens and myself with other Reigate Priory AC runners in support at the event.

As you can see, there was an excellent turn-out for this event. Ian got the cohort running around a large square in the park for an endurance session involving a climb and descent, followed by a 1Km run. The coaches from Reigate Ladies Joggers were on hand for the warm-up and cool-down.

There was interest in the Reigate Priory AC sessions shown by some participants.

Please email to let the MABAC team know of your interest or if you have any queries about this event.

Wimbledon 5K Dash @ Wimbledon Sunday 11th August

This is the last Surrey Road League fixture, and there are still places for this event available.

Looking at this Reigate Priory AC have dropped from 1st to 3rd place in the Surrey Road League Men's League after the Elmbridge 10K.

Let's get a good turn-out for the last fixture at Wimbledon on 11th August - see this to enter the event.

Parkrun tourism @ New Ross, County Wexford, Ireland Saturday 3rd August

Sarah and I were passing through New Ross on our way to our holiday destination in County Kerry.

Here we are "flying the flag" so to speak, although Sarah hadn't got her RPAC top. This event starts at 9:30AM - good job I checked. A lap and a half of the J.F. Kennedy Arboretum, which starts somewhat higher than it finishes. A quick down-hill at the start, and a long slow climb back up again.

They gave out 2 random prizes for a tea/coffee in the café, and I managed to get one! A fantastic well organised event with lovely people, and a good start to the holiday.

Where was your parkrun tourism this hoiday? How did it go? Do tell.
