Priory Relays @ Priory Park, Reigate Saturday 2nd November

Congratulations to all of the volunteers who turned out for this event. Although we were tight on numbers, the event was a huge success on the day.

Parkrun Tourism to Hove Promenade with Minibus Travel Saturday 23rd November

The 5th fixture in our Parkrun Tourism spot - Hove Promenade Parkrun.

This event is open to all senior members, parents, accompanied juniors, and even family members and friends of our club. We have always had a great turn-out and a lovely time at these events through 2019. The cost of the minibus is subsidised by Reigate Priory AC - free to members and will cost £5 each for non-members.

The schedule is as follows...

  • 7:25AM park at Reigate College (Rushworth Road entrance).
  • 7:30AM depart in the minibus for Hove Promenade.
  • 8:30AM be warming up on Hove Promenade.
  • 9:00AM Parkrun starts.
  • 10:00AM Breakfast in Marrocco's café - see the menu here.
  • 11:45AM back in Reigate.

If you'd like to take part, please can you please email with your menu choices.

We'll pay the café individually, and non-members can pay me for the minibus travel in cash on the day.

 

A date for the diary - Xmas club social on Thursday 12th December

Please join us for a social evening at the Prince of Wales pub, Holmesdale Road, Reigate on Thursday 12th December.

An area has been reserved in the lounge area from 7pm and all Seniors and Junior parents are welcome.

Border League @ Aldershot Sunday 3rd November

The first match of the 2019/20 Border League was hosted by Aldershot on Sunday. Twenty two RPAC athletes participated and there were some excellent performances.


Oscar Curry was first in the U15 boys. Max Orchard and Rory Beale were 2nd and 12th respectively in the U11 boys and two athletes in their first races for RPAC had great runs with Lisette Matthews 5th in the U9 girls and Sam McShee 6th in the U9 boys.

 

Surrey XC League Matches Saturday 9th November

This Saturday, 9th November, the second Surrey XC League matches take place with the boys races on Wimbledon Common at 2.00pm (U13), and 2.30pm (U15/U17).

The girls are on Mitcham Common with the U15/U17 race at 12.00pm and U13G'S at 12.30pm.

Anyone in year 6 and above is eligible to run although if not yet 11 you will be deemed a non-scorer. The U13 's races are c.3K. Everyone is welcome.

If you have not already done so, please contact  if you want to run. All runners are entered online by the club with their race number pre allocated. This number is retained for each of the 4 Surrey XC League matches so if you ran in the first match (in Reigate Priory) please bring that number to the match. First time runners will receive their number at the race.

 

Hoodie order - finalising the order

We will be placing a Hoodie order shortly. Everyone should have received an email with details but please contact Mike Gent by emailing  with any questions. Any final orders should be with Mike by Wednesday 6th November.

Senior news 

 

Dublin and New York Marathons on successive weekends for Kate

Kate Knight recorded a post-knee op PB of 6:21:58 in the Dublin Marathon on Sunday 27th October - her best marathon result for 5 years.

This was followed this up a week later with a result of 6:26:32 in the New York City Marathon on Sunday 3rd November, PB for the course, another sub 6:30 and nearly an hour quicker than last year!

MCM 10K @ Washington DC Sunday 27th October

After running the Roosevelt Parkrun on Saturday 26th October, Usha Stevens recorded a time of 1:04:50, and finished in 2,089th place out of 6,246 in the Marine Corps Marathon 10Km race in Washington DC, USA on Sunday 27th October. Her result is here.

Warm Up

Drills and exercises

Then:

6 x 6 minutes with 1.5 minute recovery:
Reps 1 and 4: fast for 30 seconds at 2.5 and 5.5 minutes
Reps 2 and 5: fast for 30 seconds at 1.5, 3.5 and 5.5 minutes
Reps 3 and 6: fast for 1 minute at 1, 3 and 5 minutes.

Less intense option:

8-10 sets of 500m steady, 100m fast.
100m walk/jog recovery, to regroup

Session from YMCA Sovereign Centre Wednesday 6th November 7:00PM

An easy run from the Sovereign Centre to Reigate and then "big hills little hills". What does Ian mean by that exactly? There's only one way of finding out!

 

Winter road session in Reigate on Thursday 7th November 6:00PM

Meet at Bell Street for 6:00PM and jog to Alma Road for circuits up Alma road and back down Reigate Hill, using the path by the church as a jog recovery. Easier option is just 3 loops.
