9 Priory athletes competed at the cool and windy track in Coulsdon last Wednesday (4th September), in the SLH open club championships for 1500m and 5000m.
Jo Davey, running in the 1500m, just missed out on her PB from 2017, despite running an excellent 4:54.95. In the same race, Jamilla Ncayiyana ran 5:31.01, her first track race in many years and her first track result in Power of 10. Also recording their first track 5000m results in Power of 10 were Ian Stammars (18:31.51), Stephen Smith (21:18.79), David Neumann (22:00.89) and Kate Knight (42:57.5).
Our other 3 competitors in the 5000m all had superb runs, shattering their 5000m PBs in the process. Tom Almond reduced his PB to 16:14.92 (an improvement of 9 seconds); Ginevra Stoneley ran 18:46.53 (22 seconds off her old mark), but the biggest improvement of the evening was by Lee Savage, who reduced his PB by 46 seconds to 17:18.14.
Well done to everyone who ran. There will be a further opportunity to race a 5000m on the track, at the Ed Prickett 5000m on Wednesday 2nd October, at the K2 track in Crawley.
