The annual August bank holiday open meeting at K2 attracted a good number of RPAC junior athletes as well as some strong competition. In very hot conditions, there were some excellent performances, and a pleasing number of RPAC medal winners.

In the U11 Girls 75m, Eve Goulding finished in second/silver medal place in 11.70 secs, 0.01 seconds behind the winner. She also was placed 3rd in the 150m with a time of 24 secs.

Max Orchard won gold in the U11 Boys 600m, finishing in time of 1m 50.1 secs, over 2 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. This is a new PB for Max in this event.  Max also achieved 3rd place in the 75m in a time of 11.01 secs. In the same event Michael Maguire was 4th.

In the U13 Boys 75m hurdles Harry Peters won the silver medal in 16.49 secs, which is a new PB, and also ran in the 100m.

In the U15 Boys 800m, Oscar Curry recorded a time of 2m 16.84 to secure third place.

Eva Peters competed in the U15 Girls 100m, 200m and long jump and performed just below her PBs in these events.

Drew Burridge had a very busy afternoon, winning 2 gold and one silver U17 boys medals.  Following a ‘warm-up’ 400m hurdles, won in a new club record of 74.47 seconds, he finished second in the 200m in 23.93s and won the 400m in 52.68 secs. In the same race, James Naylor finished 2nd in the U20m Men’s 400m in a new PB of 54.85 secs, knocking over 0.5 seconds off his old PB. This time is also a new club record for this event in James’s age group

In high jump. Dan Statham won the U17 Boys bronze medal on countback with 1m 75cm, just below his PB, while Rudi Haylock won the bronze medal in the U15 boys with a new PB of 1m 65cam.  Rudi also competed in the 100m and long jump.

RPAC officials at the meeting were Ivan Barrett, Naomi Jones and Ashley Burridge. Although not the most senior timekeeper, having only recently qualified at level 2,  Ashley took on the position of  Chief timekeeper, and had the honour of signing off on a new UK national record for the Male 55 age group 300m. Naomi was acting as starter, and as this was her 4th qualifying event following her successful completion of her course, she will now be eligible for level 1 starters licence.  Thank you to our volunteer officials.
