Man vs Horse Marathon

7 RPAC members travelled down to Llanwyrtd Wells this weekend for the Man vs Horse Marathon. To quote Sonia Galloway, the conditions were:

"Brutal!!! I have never run anything so challenging and the conditions were terrible...glad I finished but not sure I'd want to repeat the experience! Perhaps a less hilly marathon might be in order! Everyone okay though and we all managed to have a lovely meal and drinks together last night."

Although none of our finishers managed to beat the fastest horse (the fastest runner was over 30 minutes behind this year), all acquitted themselves well considering the heavy rain and high winds they experienced. See here for the RPAC results. Ian Edmonds decided that discretion was the better part of valour and pulled out after stage 2.

Well done guys!

MABAC Holmwood Common

In very contrasting warm and sunny conditions, 16 RPAC members ran in the June MABAC race at Holmwood Common on Sunday. The team was composed off an excellent mix of old RPAC hands and newer members of all standards:

Despite the absence of many of the MABAC regulars, both at Man vs Horse and other events, the team finished 4th out of the 7 teams present on the day and overall pulled up one place in the league to 6th (out of 9) and we are now not far behind the 2 teams above us.

Most importantly though, everyone enjoyed their run and there was a great team spirit.

Individually, Marc Graham was (for the 2nd time in a week) unable to catch Ollie Garrod, finishing in 2nd. The most impressive RPAC performance however was by Naomi Wyatt, who finished in 6th overall and 1st woman (by a long way) (photo below).

Full RPAC results are available here.

The next MABAC league race is on Tuesday 1st August, at Wimbledon Common (7.30 pm start). Further details will be sent out closer to the date, but we hope that many of the regular Tuesday evening training group will be able to attend. We will arrange to have transport available back to Reigate for anyone who works in London, so that you can travel straight to Wimbledon rather than trying to get home beforehand.
