The 24th running of our Summer Evening 10k on Wednesday evening was (once again) very successful, with a total of 392 finishers, which is the second highest number in the last 6 years. The numbers last year were boosted by the excellent weather, with many runners entering "on the night", so taking that into account the numbers this year were very good.
A massive thank you to everyone who helped, either on the night or beforehand, without you we would not be able to stage the race. Just 3 people I want to single out individually:
- Wayne Chappell, our Race Director, who was doing the job for the first time this year,
- Moray Carey, who despite stepping down as Race Director last year, still provided a massive amount of support to Wayne, and
- Sonia Galloway, for taking her life in her hands to protect the runners in Park Lane
We don't yet have the exact figures, but I am fully expecting that yet again the race will have contributed a significant amount to the club funds.
