YDL Eltham, 17 June 2018

Sunday saw the latest match in the Lower Age Group Youth Development League, taking place on this occasion at Eltham.

For U15 Alex Collins there was a continuation of his run of PB's with 4.18 in the long jump and a time of 27.96 in the 200m. Alex was close to his best in the 100m too. Dan Stapley cleared an impressive 1m.60 in the U15 high jump. Lily Cain-Jones was second in the Javelin with a big throw of 24m.25.

Frankie Evered picked up a PB in the U15 Shot having already raced well in both the 800m and 300m. George Evered competed in the U13's with fast racing in both the 100 and 200m's, and George picked up points for the Shot too.

There were new PB'S amongst the U13's for Ben Wright and Shakila Keable in the 800m, Lucy Dénecé in the 1200m, Zack Lovegrove in the 200m and Lily Woodhams in the long jump. Shakila's time for the 800m, 2.35.94, is particularly quick for a still 10 year old, and Lucy's 1200m time of 4.03.01 is the third quickest in the club's records. Matthew Pickering won the 1500m by a comfortable margin.

Several athletes competed in three events each including Eva Peters who had a good day with third place finishes in each of the 75m, 150m and long jump. Lily Woodhams ran in the 75m and 800m as well as doing the long jump, and Ben Wright added the 100m and the long jump to his 800m.

Anita Evered was organised and calm as ever in her role as team manager and as always at the YDL meetings Simon Evered was helping officiate events throughout the day. A mention too for Ivan Barrett who was one of the UKA officials running the match.

Ebbisham Boys League, Coulsdon 10 June 2018

The latest match in the Ebbisham Boys League took place at Coulsdon on Sunday.

In the U11'S there were particularly strong performances from Max Orchard and Jayden Alabi. Both ran fast 150m and 600m races and both were amongst the highest scoring long jumpers. Harry Peters and Justin Collins also performed well at three events each with Harry picking up a new PB in the 150m and Justin equalling his PB in the 150m.

A good turnout in the U13's saw Finlay Caldwell, Ben Wright and Joel Lawrence taking on three events each and a number of others doubling up with two events.  Matthew Pickering took 2nd place in the 1500m and Gusie Lewis was 3rd in the 800m. Samuel Stapley finished 2nd in the B string 800m with Sam Rolaston leading home the four other RPAC 800m runners in the non scoring event.

In the U15's it was a great day for Alex Collins who had PB's in all three of his events! 100m, 200m and long jump.

Dan Stapley won the U15 high jump with a clearance of 1m.50 whilst Oscar Curry and Joe Walker ran well in the 800m.

U17's can take part as non scorers in this league and turning out consistently all summer has been Drew Burridge. Drew equalled his PB in the 400m and running his first competitive 100m had a fast time of 11.9! Charlie Jenner threw 13.51 in the discus to establish a club record for U17B's Discus!

Thanks go to Sam Jenner for Managing the team and liaising with Dorking and Mole Valley AC with whom we formed a joint team.

Surrey Schools Track and Field Championships, Kingston 9th June 2018

Surrey Schools Track and Field Championships, Kingston 9th June 2018

On Saturday it was back to Kingston, this time for the Surrey Schools Track and Field Championships. Having qualified through the South Surrey District competition, several RPAC athletes were in action in a high quality meeting. With a host of strong performances they came away with six medals.

For Katie Mac it was business as usual as she won Gold in the Intermediate Girls Javelin with a throw of 38.75m. Competing in the same age group both Lucy Broderick (800m) and Emiko Salvi (3000m) won Silver medals and Lily Grant took the Bronze Medal in the 300m Hurdles. Vicky Wilkes ran a new PB time of 27.01 on her way to the Bronze medal in the Junior Girls 200m.

In the Junior Boys High Jump, Dan Statham jumped a new PB height of 1.63m. This earned Dan the Bronze Medal and was also a new club U15 boys High Jump record!

There were other notable performances from Poppy Wardley (4th in Senior Girls 1500m), Abbie Owen (4th in Senior Girls 800m), Frankie Evered who came through a gruelling heat in the Junior Girls 800m to take 5th place in the final, Drew Burridge who ran a PB in the heats of the Inter Boys 400m, Rosie Braid who had a big PB in her Junior Girls 200m heat and 5th place for Lily Cain-Jones in the Junior Girls Javelin.

Drew has been on a good run all summer and in his last 300m race (at Finsbury Park on 31st May) he set a new U17 boys 300m club record with a time of 38.77!

Lily B League, Croydon, Saturday 2nd June 2018

Lily B League, Croydon, Saturday 2nd June 2018

There were several personal best performances (including Lily Grant's new club record in the U17W'S 300m hurdles) and plenty of other great efforts by the RPAC athletes at the latest Lily B League match held in Croydon on Saturday.

Javelin proved a strength again with Lily Cain-Jones throwing a new PB of 33.97m in winning the U15'S while Katie Mackison won the U17'S with a throw of 36.75m. Katie had a good day, finishing second in the Shot with a PB (9.59) and running a PB in the 300mH. Lily Grant added a Shot PB to her record in the hurdles.

In the U15'S there was also a new PB for Erin Taylor-Benson in the high jump and good points were scored by Vicky Wilkes, Eva Marsh and Evelyn Salisbury who all doubled up with two events each.

The U13'S had plenty of success too. Francesca Manrow ran a new PB in the 200m, came 1st in the discus and competed in the 800m. Shakila Keable ran a fantastic  2.39.8  in the 800m. Not many below 2.40 in year six! Lily Woodhams had a new long jump PB with 3m.29 and also had first competitive outings in the 100 and the 200m sprints. Eva Peters as ever scored good points with her 100m,  200m and long jump. For Alessia Turner it was a busy afternoon too. Alessia performed well in the discus and the high jump but her highlight was her first 1500m where a long sprint finish saw her come home in 5.38.3. We haven't seen too many year six 1500's but this time compares very favouroubly with those from RPAC that have gone before.

An exciting 75m sprint was won by U11 Eve Goulding in a fast 12.1 seconds! Eve also ran a good 150m. Yasmin Badawi had another good all round performance competing in three U11 events and coming away with a PB  of 3.18 in the long jump. Harriet Thynne as ever undertook three events and Harriet ran a new PB of 24.8 in the 150m. There were also good performances from Florence Carter, Amelie Lawrence and Jessica Randall.

Ian Crouch and Donna Barrington-Smith are both UK Athletics Officials from RPAC and we are grateful to them for once again giving up their Saturday's to officiate at the match.

At the end of a long afternoon, the U11'S and U13'S both took part in the 4 x 100m relays. After clocking 69.5 at the first Lily B match in Ewell, the U11'S improved their time to a speedy 65.7 seconds!

The U13 team of Francesca, Alessia, Lily and Eva finished their race in 3rd place in a time of 60.5 seconds. As can be seen from the Power of 10 this time is pretty quick! ( The Croydon time of 60.5 not posted to P of 10 yet).

New Club Record for Lily Grant in 300m Hurdles, Croydon 2 June 2018

New Club Record for Lily Grant in 300m Hurdles, Croydon 2 June 2018

Congratulations to Lily Grant who won the U17 Women's 300m Hurdles race at the Lily B match in Croydon in a new Club Record time of 47.9!

Lily is pictured in the race with Katie Mackison (RR) who also ran a new personal best time of 49.2 to make it 1st and 2nd in the race for RPAC.

It has been a good week for Lily who finished 4th in the Surrey U17W'S Pentathlon Championships on Wednesday with a performance that included PB's in the 80mH and Javelin. Lily also won the 800m at that event by a margin of 7 seconds!

With the hot sunny weather more suited to a track and field meeting, the first cross country event of the season for the Juniors was held at Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Running a fast 3k lap that started and finished in the stadium, with full results not out yet, we think our U13 boys were our highest placed finishers coming home in 11th place. Oscar Curry, Gusie Lewis, Freddie Fowler and Matthew Pickering are pictured above.

Next up in the cross country is the Surrey League meeting on Saturday 14 October in Reigate Priory Park. That is followed by the Surrey XC Relay Championships at Stoke Park Guildford on Saturday 28th October.
