Welcome to my update for September; don't worry, I will revert to the normal boring title next month!

The eagle-eyed among you will have seen that a new building has appeared at Battlebridge, alongside our container. The "Cabin" is now fully commissioned, and will provide us with a proper toilet, working kitchen and communal area (see photos below). We will share this with Redhill Youth Football Club who, in partnership with the Council, successfully applied for a grant from Tesco's. Our container will become a storage facility for both Clubs.

Competition

The juniors had a quiet August, but on 2nd September the girls competed in the Lily B Plate Final at the Kingsmeadow stadium in Kingston. Although Sutton & District were well ahead of the other teams, there was a very close battle between RPAC, Holland Sports and Hercules Wimbledon for the next 3 places. Our girls ended up in 3rd place, but only a few points behind 2nd. Well done to everybody who competed, you are a credit to the Club!

For the seniors, there was disappointment for the men, who finished in 2nd place to Ranelagh Harriers in the Surrey Road League. However, this was only on count-back, based on both teams' best 5 results (out of 7) the two clubs were tied with an identical number of points. It was only when the next best result was taken into account that Ranelagh sneaked ahead.

In the Surrey Road Relays on 2nd September however, the ladies W35 team were the bronze medallists, congratulations to the team of Jo Davey, Nat Wilson, Ali Rustige and Ginevra Stoneley.

Ladies Surrey Road Relay W35 team

The Club turned out a total of 5 complete and 2 partial teams, covering most age categories, with excellent individual performances. Well done to everybody.

Surrey Cross-Country League

Looking forward to October, the Club is hosting a joint ladies & men's cross-country fixture in Priory Park on Saturday 14th October. There will be a total of 6 races covering all age groups, so many of our juniors and seniors will be competing. Even if you are not racing please come along to support those that are. If you are available to help on the day, that would be greatly appreciated - please see the recent e-mail from Ian Thomas.

Summary Minutes

The summary minutes from the July committee meeting are available here. Note that we did not have a committee meeting in August, hence there will be no summary minutes!
