Warm sunshine made for good conditions on Saturday at the first Lily B Girl's League match of the season held at the David Weir Stadium in Carshalton.

With several U11’s from the Academy having their first outing in the League, there were plenty of  inspiring performances to admire. Not least the sight of our U11 4 x 100m relay team, at the end of a long afternoon, coming home in 5th place in a time of 72.2 seconds.

Most of the U11’s turned their hand to more than one event and as well as the relay, some were seen competing in the 75m sprint, some going for the longer option of 600m, and some trying the long jump. Of particular note were the performances of Katie Foss (2.00.5) and Alessia Turner (2.04.6) in the 600m race. Both times are quick!

It was a good day for all our Katie's! In the U15 Javelin, Katie Mackison threw a new PB and new Club Record distance of 32.15m. This took 1st place in the A stream competition. Lily Cain-Jones threw a hugely impressive 25.90m to take 1st place in the B string and confirm our strength in Javelin at this age group.

Katie Driver had a great day competing in three U17 events and finishing with one 1st and two 2nd places. In the 1500m she won the B string with Emelye Kenyon-Brown making it a club double by winning the A stream race.

There was more double success in the U15 800m with Lucy Broderick and Frankie Evered winning the A and B strings respectively.

Some of our U13’s took on new events including Amanda Stapley and Francesca Manrow tackling the high jump, and we also saw a fast and exciting 4 x 100m relay with RPAC finishing 3rd in the U13 A team race in a good time of 61.9 seconds. Izzy, Caitlin, Eva and Francesca made up the team.

Provisional results have RPAC finishing in 4th place in the match.

Special thanks are due to the Officials from RPAC without whom the event could not take place. Donna Barrington-Smith, Ian Crouch, Naomi Jones and Gina Watson. Also to Fiona Gent who gave up her Saturday to sit in the control room and compile the results as the events took place. There was a great response as well to team manager Kirsten Mackison's request for parents to help the officials at those field events we were allocated to assist at.

The next Lily B match is in Croydon on Saturday 3rd June. Details and team announcements soon.

Pics include the U13 Relay Team and Eva Peters and Lucy Dénecé at the long jump.
