The annual SEAA Southern Road Relay Championships took place on Sunday at Crystal Palace.

Starting and finishing in the Crystal Palace Athletics Stadium, each runner ran the same 3.1K lap. Despite heavy rain all morning, the young RPAC runners all performed well with some excellent lap times achieved.

The U13 boys, Matthew Pickering, Gusie Lewis, Sam Rolaston and Will John-Cox finished in 20th place out of 44 teams from across Southern England. Matthew ran the 10th quickest lap of all (145 competitors) and this despite a heavy fall out on the course which saw him treated in first aid after the race. The U13 girls were placed 25th out of 56 teams with Lucy Dénecé,  Alessia Turner, Shakila Keable and Lily Woodhams all taking part. Lucy, like Matthew, ran the 10th quickest lap overall in her age group where 179 girls competed.

With Noah Young and Joe Walker running well in the U15 boys and Emiko Salvi one of the fastest amongst the Surrey qualified U17W, the rain was forgotten.

The Surrey XC Relay Championships take place in Stoke Park, Guildford on Saturday 27th October. Teams of 3, with a minimum age of 11 on the day of the race. Before that, the first Surrey League xc matches take place on Saturday 13th October. The girls match is at Putney Vale. The men's race is at Petersham but boys venue to be confirmed.
