A small but perfectly formed quartet of RPAC under 17s were the sole repesentatives of the composite Holland Sports/Reigate Priory team at the first Youth Development League - Upper Age Group fixture of the season.
The Medway Athletics Track in Gillingham clearly suited the foursome, as all produced personal bests. Most notably, Katie Mackison set a new club record in the Javelin at 44.89m, elevating herself to third place in the 2019 UK rankings and a spot in the UK 10 Target!
Drew Burridge set a new club record in the 400m with a dominant run of 53.17s, his third PB at this distance in the last three weeks. With everyone in attendance competing, warming up or officiating, we had to borrow the Photo Finish judge's image to illustrate his win!
Katie and Drew were ably supported by first-year u17s Jake Chandler and Alex Collins. Jake produced double PBs with 13.12s in the 100m & 26.24s in the 200m. Alex stepped up to earn us some valuable points in the Triple Jump with 9.35m and equalled his PB with13.92s in a non-scoring 100m run.
A big thanks to Ian Crouch for spending the day judging field events and Ashley Burridge for manning the timekeepers' steps.
The next YDL-UAG fixture is at Mile End on Sunday, 26th May. Mile End's track was refurbished ahead of the 2012 Olympics to provide additional training facilities for visiting athletes.
