Club news for everyone
I'm pleased to announce that the Awards Evening is a sell out. There will be no admission without a ticket on the night as there is a limit to the numbers that can be accommodated within the venue. This will be our first combined awards evening and the first event that we have held at Reigate Priory Cricket Club.
The evening for Juniors will commence at 6.30pm with music and food to enjoy with your fellow club runners. Seniors should arrive from 7.30pm for food & to purchase drinks prior to the awards ceremonies which will commence at 8.00pm.
You can read full details of the event here.
Please note parking at the Cricket Club is very limited so our recommendation is to park elsewhere.
Please let us know if you have any questions on email address .
Our 15 participants are now within the second week of the Couch to 5K course. It has been very successful so far, but if you can spare some time on a Saturday morning between 10:30 and 11:30 on the odd weekend to help out up until Saturday 29th of February, that would be really helpful to us, particularly as there are some weeks where not all of the Couch to 5K leaders can participate.
Your main task would be to provide encouragement and take part in the activities with the participants, as the group does become a little stretched from the front to the back and it is difficult to be there for everyone.
We usually perform the Saturday session in the park - meeting by the Sunken Garden and then moving down to the lake. However, just for this week (Saturday 18th January) we will be meeting outside of Costa / The Cage to go to the Castle Grounds.
If you can help us, just email with an indication of your availability.
You can see the full details of this course here.
We want to invite senior Reigate Priory AC members, parents of junior members and accompanied junior members along to the Banstead Woods Parkrun on Saturday 25th January.
Note that for club members, we want to encourage you to wear your Reigate Priory AC vest.
Hope you can make it! If you have any queries about our parkrun visit please email
A small but strong contingent from RPAC competed in the Surrey XC League matches on Saturday with all producing excellent performances. A full report is here.
Lilah Unwin clocked a new 800m PB in the 2020 South of England AA Indoor Championships. A full report is here.
Unfortunately we have not been able to secure our usual slot at K2, so there will be no visits to K2 in January and February. We will be visiting on 24 March. Dates for the rest of the year are currently being finalised.
We have a new batch of vests and training tops just arrived. If anyone needs either please let Mike Gent know .
Pyramid of 4,5,6,7,6,5,4 minutes with 25% recovery between reps.
600m, 800m, 1000m, 1200m, 1000m, 800m, 600m with 200m walk/jog recovery
Easy run with some 10 minute hill reps
Meet at Majestic for 6.30 as usual before making our way to Pilgrims way at the top of Nutley Lane. The session will be hilly loops with 2 short then 2 long then 2 short. There is an option to do one long loop rather than 2 for those who want a less intense run.
Both the ladies' and men's teams were in action this weekend with the ladies running on Wimbledon Common and the men on Chobham Common. Results are not to hand as yet.
A team of 13 RPAC runners (and one volunteer) took part in the first MABAC fixture of the season in Windsor Great Park on Sunday morning. The setting is absolutely stunning and very different from the other MABAC venues. Despite some close shaves with cyclists and horse riders, but no Royals to my knowledge, everyone survived to run another day. There were some excellent performances all round. Ian Stammars was first home for the men and Ruth Willis was first home for the ladies.
Missing from the photo are Kate Knight and Andrew Bamford (the reluctant volunteer!)
This was also the first RPAC Grand Prix fixture of 2020. Rick will work out scores and make them available in due course.
Please note that the next MABAC fixture is in Priory Park on 1st March so we will be asking for lots of volunteers.
This is the first of our Club Championship races for the season and your first opportunity to win some RPAC silverware.
It is a fast and flat half marathon - the course record is 1:03:14 for men and 1:11:09 for ladies.
This race normally sells out quite quickly so if you haven't entered yet do not delay. Entry details are here.
On Saturday 11th January Jim 'Invincible' Vince completed his first Ultra of 2020 - the 43 mile Country to Capital race from Wendover to Paddington. Jim finished in 07:13:30 - a PB for this course by an hour - and 9th in his age group.
Jim would like to stress that he was not wearing a hi-viz mini dress!
2019 was a big year of running for Jim with 9 Ultras (including the 100 mile Berlin Wall Ultra), 7 marathons (including the Atlantic Coast Challenge - 3 marathons in 3 days), 4 Half Marathons and a whole lot more running. 2020 looks likely to be more of the same.
