Club News For Everyone
I hope that this newsletter finds you and your families all keeping fit and well.
Happy Birthday Ian!
I am sure that you will all want to join me in wishing Ian Martin a very Happy Birthday on Wednesday (1st July). It's a milestone birthday for Ian, but I won't say which one, suffice to say that he will be joining a small but elite band of athletes in his age category at the club.
Return To Coached Training
As you know we have made a limited return to coached training. Please see the notice board article for more details on how to join the sessions. If you have a place and are unable to make it for any reason please try to give 24 hours' notice so that your place can be reallocated to one of your club mates. Please make sure that you observe the signs at Battlebridge to avoid breaching social distancing regulations.
Javelin & Hurdles Taster Sessions
Just a reminder that Ellis is running some taster sessions for you to try javelin and/or hurdles. Please see the notice board article for more details on how to join in.
Branded Club Kit
As you may or may not know we have a range of RPAC branded kit available to buy from iProSports. Is anyone willing to take on the job of reviewing the kit available on the RPAC club zone, to identify any changes or additions? Please let us know by emailing
You may have noticed Kate Knight's name at the top of the club leaderboard for distance on Strava in recent weeks. As we all know Kate covers an extraordinary amount of ground under normal circumstances, but recently it has been exceptional - over 310km last week alone (not to mention 2550m of climbing). The reason? Since 27th April Kate has been attempting to cover the distance between Lands End and John O' Groats (1083 miles) to raise funds for the Surrey and Sussex Healthcare Trust. On Saturday she passed the 1000 milestone and at the time of writing she has just 63 miles to go. That is really an amazing feat Kate - well done!
This week's track session includes a 3000m time trial. If you are not able to attend the track why not do your own thing and run 3000m. Let me know your best time.
5x1 mile handicap relay - this was Week 2 of 4

Handicaps for the teams were adjusted based on the previous weeks results as follows
Team 1 06:56, Team 2 04:17, Team 3 04:26, Team 4 00:54, Team 5 06:47, Team 6 02:42, Team 7 02:48, Team 8 00:00. The "mystery guests" in team 8 are people who are running as part of another team (i.e. I am recording their time twice)
Again I have had to be a little creative with the results as we have a number of people who are injured or who couldn't run for a variety of reasons bu the results were Team 8 38:18, Team 3 38:20, Team 4 39:05, Team 2 39:21, Team 1 40:01, Team 7 40:05, Team 6 41:57, Team 5 42:25
Handicaps will be adjusted accordingly for next week.
The fastest overall mile was recorded by Freddie Roux (5:20) with Ruth Willis recording fastest time for the ladies (6:09) and Max Orchard the fastest time for the juniors (5:54). Well done all of you.
Adrian Grant recorded yet another PB with 7:51 and would like to thank Anthony Collins for being his pacer. Lockdown is obviously working for Adrian as his mile PB has dropped by almost 30 seconds since we started these competitions if memory serves me correctly.
Well done to everyone. If you are not competing and would like to please let me know
