Hello everyone. I hope that you and your families are all keeping safe and well in these difficult times.

 

Kate's Challenge

From 1st February to 31st March Kate Knight has started on her 600 mile virtual trek for NHS charities together with the charity MIND. Kate will be walking most of it, including the London Winter Walk marathon on 27th March 2021 (an Action Challenge event). Kate has set up a fundraising page for East Surrey Hospital that you can find here.

 

Two Missing Trophies - still searching!

The Jimmy James Handicap and Ladies V35 Half Marathon trophies have been mislaid and have not been seen since the awards evening in January last year.

EA Virtual Road Relays - see this for more information

 As outlined in last week's newsletter RPAC finished in 35th place in the first round of this competition, and we have thus qualified for the second round. This is a five mile distance.

This will be run from 00:01 on Wednesday 10 February to 23:59 on Monday 15 February 2021. We can have as many first claim runners as we like sign-up for Round 2 (National Round) with the fastest 4 men and fastest 4 women scoring. The top club from Round 2 will progress to Round 3 (International Round).

Runners do not need to have taken part in Round 1 of the competition in order to run in Round 2.

In order to spice it up a bit more and get some more of you running Malcolm and I have decided to make Round 2 a handicap competition. If you ran in Round 1 your time will be used to calculate your handicap. If you plan to run in Round 2 send your predicted time to  for us to calculate your handicap time. Please let me know if you have any questions. 

 

The Return of Virtual Challenges

As promised, here is the first virtual challenge of the current lockdown, continued from last week. We are starting with something simple - run or walk the shortest distance to find road names that spell out the word "MARATHON".  The words "road" and "avenue" do not count - although I suppose that if there were an "Avenue Road" (as there is in Epsom) I would have to allow the A!
