Club Championships 2021 - Cut Off Date
In order to give me enough time to get the engraving done in time for the Awards Evening in January the last date for submitting a result will be next Sunday 19th December.
The Turkey Trot - Denbies Sunday 19th December
Meet at Denbies at 9:00AM for a 9:15AM start to the traditional RPAC Turkey Trot run.
For those new to the club, the Turkey Trot is a seasonal get-together for a run or walk followed by refreshments in Denbies afterwards - all are welcome.
Ian Edmonds will lead a run of approximately 10Km to Ranmore and back.
Paul Walters will also lead a three and a quarter mile walk from Denbies, but note that the walk will start promptly at 9:00AM. It is slippy and muddy in places so walking boots are highly recommended for the walkers and trail shoes are a must for the runners.
Wear something Christmassy!
Club Championships - Age Graded Award - submissions for this ASAP please
I may have mentioned this before...
This year we have a brand spanking new age graded trophy up for grabs. Could yours be the first name on it? So far no one has submitted an entry.
The eligibility criteria were discussed at last week's Committee Meeting and are now as follows (some slight amendments from those previously published)
- This is a senior section award
- Any recognised race distance below a marathon is eligible (The Andy Winterton Memorial Trophy is already awarded for the highest age graded marathon result)
- Track and road races are eligible
- The race must be included in your profile on Power of 10 and be eligible for rankings (see here for more information about what races qualify for ranking). I'm sorry to say that this means that Parkruns are not eligible.
If you have a result that you would like to submit for the Age Graded Award please visit the WMA Age Grading Calculator website, calculate your age graded score and submit it together with the race details and your age on the day of the race to me ( ) for verification. If you have trouble calculating your age grading please let me know and I will endeavour to do it for you (again I will need the race details and your age on the day of the race).
Club Championships 2022
A reminder that the first race of the 2022 Club Championships will be the Wokingham Half Marathon on 27th February. This event sells out quickly so you are strongly advised to get your entry booked. Details are here.
Club Grand Prix Revived for 2022
We are hoping to revive the Club Grand Prix for 2022, Omicron permitting! We last ran this in 2017/18 and it was great fun. Rick Coles has very kindly offered to help me organise it this year
For those of you who do not know what the Grand Prix is or how it works here goes...
- All senior runners are placed in a group of (hopefully) similarly paced runners
- There are series of nominated GP races ranging from 1 mile to Half Marathon throughout the year
- You will get a least one point for every race you compete in, but you will get more depending on where you finish in relation to the rest of your group (e.g. if 10 people from your group enter a particular race and you finish first you will get 12 points, if you finish in tenth place you will get 2 points and so on).
- At the end of the season the top two from each group will be promoted and the bottom two will be relegated (with the obvious exception that there are no promotions from the top group or relegations from the bottom group).
If you have joined the club in the last year or so it would help us to get you in the right group if you could send a recent 10K time (for you!) to us Similarly if you really don't want to take part, please let us know.
The first Grand Prix race will be the MABAC in Windsor Great Park on 16th January
Sunday 9th January Surrey Cross Country Championships at Denbies, Dorking
