Lockdown 2 starts today in England. Unfortunately, that means we have to cancel all indoor and outdoor group training sessions (for both juniors & seniors) with immediate effect, starting with the sessions scheduled for this evening Thursday 5th November. Although England Athletics (along with other national sports bodies) attempted to get an exemption, they were unsuccessful in doing so.
The (slightly) good news is that you can continue to train with your household or one other person in a public outdoor space. Also, 1:1 coaching can take place in a public outdoor space following social distancing measures. However, please note that EA are seeking clarity on 1:1 coaching with U18s.
This also means that all indoor and outdoor competitions are cancelled for the duration of the lockdown. We are therefore postponing the Priory Relays, that we had scheduled for 14th/15th November, probably until January 2021,
For any members or parents interested in coaching or officiating at events, EA are offering online courses for all of "Leading Athletics", "LIRF to CIRF" and "Officials" with immediate effect. They are also offering an online LIRF (Leader in Running Fitness) course now for anyone who has had a course cancelled since March, and are hoping to make this available to everyone from January 2021.
The full announcement from EA is available on the EA website.
Take care, stay safe and keep training - we'll see you back face-to-face on Thursday 3rd December or soon after (assuming the lockdown does not get extended).
