Parkrun Tourism event 2 Saturday 27th July @ Denbies

We will meet at 8:10AM at Reigate College (Rushworth Road entrance) to car share over to Denbies at Dorking to take part on Mole Valley Parkrun at 9AM. (The car park will be locked afterwards until our return.)

All seniors, parents and accompanied juniors are welcome. Please run in club vest if you can, and bring some money for refreshments afterwards.

It'd be great to see you!

if you don't wish to enter the run but still want to be part of Run Reigate 2019 then you may want to volunteer.  All volunteers get a free breakfast, t-shirt and entry to Run Reigate 2020.

Junior news

 

u17/u20 News - by Ashley Burridge

Some Track and Field personal bests (and club records!) from the last week. Drew Burridge improved his 400m time to 53.04s at the Woodford Green Open meeting on Monday evening. He also took half a second off his 200m time at the Southern Athletics League meeting at Worthing on Saturday, running 23.7s. At the same meeting, James Naylor set a 200m u20 club best time of 24.9s.


Three RPAC athletes have been selected to represent Surrey at the Eight Counties U17 Inter County Championships at Chelmsford this coming Sunday. Congratulations to Katie Mackison (Javelin), Lily Cain-Jones (Javelin) and Drew Burridge (400m and 4x400 relay).

North Downs Way Half Marathon 7th July 2019

Fantastic results that you can see here from Charlie Butcher (1st), Fran Dunham (2nd) and Rick Coles (7th).

 

SCVAC Track & Field League fixture 4 Monday 8th July @ Croydon

I understand that due to injury and illness numbers were depleted for this fixture (I had a cold!). Results are to follow.

 

SAL meeting Saturday 13th July @ Worthing

I understand that there were some excellent performances. Results are to follow.

 

Hillsong Youth Guildford Half Marathon 13th July

Jack Finn ran the half marathon with some friends to raise money to get the youth (11-18 year old) to the church conference. Well done Jack! It's not too late to sponsor Jack, so see this

 

Sunday Social run and  "Walk" 14th July @ Reigate Hill car park

The eight runners headed off through Walton Heath towards Ebbisham Lane and back for a 9 mile run at 9:00AM last Sunday, and returned at around 10:30AM to join the "walking group" at the Reigate Hill café. A great time was had by all, although for the walkers it only involved a brisk 20 metres walk from/to the cars! Thanks to Ali, Sharon and Graham for instigating this, and we must plan to do it again soon.

The plan for the training session at Battlebridge track is scheduled as follows...

Short distance

Medium and long distance

Less Intense

Warm up and drills: High knees walking; butt kicks; A & B skips; open/close the gate; sidesteps; squats; lunges; high skips; tuck jumps; arms swings, punches; then high knees running in sets of 30 strides.

600m wind-ups

Walk 150m

then 150m at 50% pace

then 100m at 70% pace,

then 100m at 90% pace,

then 100m at 100% pace.

In teams of 3:

800m reps.

Ist runner sets off, after one lap 2nd runner joins to lead 1st runner.

After 2 laps 3rd runner joins to lead 2nd runner and 1st runner stops for static rest.

After 3rd lap 1st runner joins to lead 1st runner and 2nd runner stops for static rest, and so on.

600m, 200m walk/jog recovery

45 min session

 Ian Edmonds will be leading the run from the Sovereign on Wednesday.

 

Session @ Priory Park Thursday 18th July 6:00PM

Meet at 6.pm by Pavillion /tree seat for Warm up, loop around pond and back. 6.15 main session.

Short hill loops in lower park from pavilion / tree straight up to the bench left along the treeline to south east corner clump of trees and back down to the Ha-Ha by the Priory School, along the path back to the tree seat.

Sets of 3 then 2 then 1 then 2 then 3. 1 minute recovery between each set.

Surrey Road League 2019

It might have missed your attention that Reigate Priory AC are leading the Surrey Road League after four events. The final two events are the Elmbridge 10K (only 65 entries left!) this coming Sunday 21st July and the Wimbledon 5K Dash on Sunday 11th August. Let's get a strong turn-out for these events!

 

What is Kate Knight up to?

Kate took part in the Peak District Challenge 100Km this last weekend and finished in a time of 32:00:38. Kate is now looking forward to the Salisbury 50k on 11th August. (Sorry I missed you from the Informal 10K results race 2 Kate - now added!)
