Hello everyone I hope that you and your families are all keeping safe and well in these difficult times.  It is difficult to see many positives at the moment, but at least the daylight hours are increasing by about 15 minutes a week at the moment - Spring is not far away.

Senior Training

Although training is cancelled Malcolm is continuing to publish details of the scheduled session on the calendar and via the Facebook group.

Battlebridge Floodlights

The floodlights at Battlebridge will be turned on between 18:00 and 21:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays until further notice. If you plan to use the track don't forget that you can exercise with a maximum of one person from outside your family or support bubble and you must maintain social distancing. You may only exercise once per day but there is no limit on the duration of that exercise session.

EA Virtual Road Relays

We have had some really strong performances in the EA Virtual 5 Mile Road Relays and a total of 5 ladies and 8 men have submitted times so far.  The deadline has now been extended so if you still want to submit a time you must have completed your run before 14th January and have submitted the time here by midday on 14th January.

The full list of results is George Roux (27:39), Freddie Roux (27:52), Frank O'Regan (30:22), Ian Stammars (30:27), Conner Wickens (31:22) , Neil Fenwick (30:49), Neil Freeman-Jones (31:25), Ginevra Stoneley (32:23), Jo Davey (32:58), Nat Wilson (33:15), Carmela Charalambous (34:52), Gillian O'Regan (36:10), Malcolm Woodman (43:49)

I was particularly impressed by the times submitted by three relatively new club members. Well done Conner Wickens, Neil Fenwick and Neil Freeman-Jones!

At the moment the RPAC team has a total time of 4:09:48 and is made up of George Roux, Freddie Roux, Frank O'Regan, Ian Stammars, Ginevra Stoneley, Jo Davey, Nat Wilson and Carmela Charalambous.

Can we improve on this time and will we be good enough to qualify for the national round?

Here are two of the team - Carmela Charalambous and Ian Stammars following their runs (although I'm not convinced that Ian wasn't just feeding the swans).

If you are thinking of entering a couple of suggestions for reasonably flat routes near Reigate are

  1. From Vevers Road via New Causeway and Lynn Walk to Lonesome Lane, along Lonesome Lane, left into Lodge Lane and back along Brighton Road and Woodhatch Road to Vevers Road.
  2. Three loops starting from Reigate Parish School along Blackborough Road to Shaws Corner and back via Reigate Road and the footpath through Reigate Grammar School then two shorter loops from the Parish School to Ringley Park Road and then back along Reigate Road and the footpath through Reigate Grammar School.
