Hello everyone I hope that you and your families are all keeping safe and well and that you managed to have as enjoyable a Christmas and New Year as Tier 4 restrictions allowed. I wish you all the very best for the New Year and live in hope that 2021 will bring about a return to some semblance of normality. (I wrote this before this evening's announcement frown )

New Club Members

Please join me in extending a very warm RPAC welcome to Daniel Kloes who has recently joined the junior section of the club and to Neil Freeman-Jones who has recently joined the senior section.  Welcome to both of you!

Senior Coaching

Senior Coaching is cancelled until further notice.

Junior Coaching

Following the Government's announcement this evening we have no option but to cancel junior training for the time being. We will continue to monitor the situation  very closely to see whether further guidance is issued that may change this decision.

Battlebridge Floodlights

The floodlights at Battlebridge will be turned on between 18:00 and 21:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you plan to use the track don't forget that you can exercise with a maximum of one person from outside your family or support bubble and you must maintain social distancing. You may only exercise once per day but there is no limit on the duration of that exercise session.

EA Virtual Road Relays

As mentioned in Malcolm's email of 28th December, England Athletics are staging a Virtual Road Relay event for all affiliated clubs. This involves 5 mile legs with a club's time being calculated from the fastest 4 men and 4 ladies. We are allowed unlimited entries for the Preliminary Round but you need to have completed your leg before 11th January. The fastest 50 clubs will qualify for the second round.  Full details are here. You will need a login to OpenTrack to register and submit your results. I do know that some of the faster men, for example George and Freddie Roux, are planning to enter. It would great if we could get a really strong entry.

A couple of suggestions for reasonably flat routes near Reigate are

  1. From Vevers Road via New Causeway and Lynn Walk to Lonesome Lane, along Lonesome Lane, left into Lodge Lane and back along Brighton Road and Woodhatch Road to Vevers Road.
  2. Three loops starting from Reigate Parish School along Blackborough Road to Shaws Corner and back via Reigate Road and the footpath through Reigate Grammar School then two shorter loops from the Parish School to Ringley Park Road and then back along Reigate Road and the footpath through Reigate Grammar School.
